You will find that the staff at the C.A.R.E.E. Academy is teacher-oriented, focusing on personnel who work directly with students and minimizing the number of administrators. We believe this is the best way to provide service to our clientele: the student.
Faculty
We currently have three full-time teachers, all fully credentialed to teach in the state of California. Allan Smith teaches business math and economics and has been with C.A.R.E.E. since its founding. Felice Johnson teaches language arts and social studies and joined us in 2003 from Dwight Eisenhower Middle School. Diana LeComte-DeMarrais teaches science, computers, and business administration; she recently entered the education field after working in private industry for 15 years.
Staff
Our slim administrative and counseling staff works hard to make up for its small size. Counselor Bella Zermeño joined the academy last year, having spent 22 years with the Desert Skies Unified School District. Shirley Adams is a recent graduate of CSUSB and serves as our administrative assistant, contributing a lot to just about every C.A.R.E.E. task.
Administrator
Ellen Fine, Ed. D., founded the C.A.R.E.E. Academy in 2002 after serving as the principal at La Cholla High School for nine years. Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, Dr. Fine has worked in education since 1972.
